CLAC was founded in 1992, as a limited company with mixed public and private capital, to cater to the needs of the companies in the furniture sector in terms of support in the processes of constant improvement. Founded on the basis of regional law no. 72/89 of 15/12/89 ‘Regional Participation in the Creation of a Service Centre in the City of Cantù’, the aim of CLAC is to support the policies of the valorisation, in the national and international markets, of the design and manufacturing quality of companies belonging to the Wood/Furniture sector. The work carried out by CLAC in favour of small and medium companies and handicraft businesses in the Wood/Furniture sector consists in providing services for the development of their respective activities in the fields of technological innovation, design, professional training, marketing and commercial promotion, both collective and by specific request. CLAC operates in collaboration with and in the service of the institutions and the associated and specialising companies, planning and carrying out activities of general interest to the Wood/Furniture sector and to further the development of the relative industrial areas. The work of CLAC S.R.L. concentrates also on the world of design and designers, striving to bring them into contact with the companies and valorise their innovative contribution to the manufacturing system. Through the Galleria del Design e dell’Arredamento (Gallery of Design and Furniture), co-ordinated by a special Scientific Committee, CLAC organises researches and exhibitions for the valorisation of design and furniture manufacturing. The activities of CLAC involve also the publishing of printed matter, books, CD-Roms, etc., and the holding of shares in companies or associations with the same company aim. Over the years CLAC has succeeded in becoming established and appreciated as one of the most prominent companies in the furniture sector, a valuable point of contact between the world of research, design and training and the business system.
